Parents Fighting at Youth Games – What Happened in the Game of Dewey Does

What everyone needs to know about youth sports violence

Parents fighting at their kids’ game is indeed an issue. It may not be a major one but it’s a matter of concern when it comes to rude parental behavior or improper sideline behavior. There certainly remains a cursory mention of treating everyone with respect, but parents often forget that and start fighting with other parents or the sports officials.

A classic example of how situations can worsen because of parents fighting can be seen in the story of Dewey Does. One day, Dewey had his big game - the Doesville Baseball Classic. Parents were also extremely excited for their kids’ games. It was a game full of tension that heightened when the score was tied with parents yelling at umpires. Finally, Dewey’s team won the game and there was an abundance of happiness due to the victory. But the happy feeling dramatically changed when some parents started fighting because the game didn’t go in the favor of their kids. They were arguing and throwing pieces of food, popcorn etc at each other.

Finally, the disturbance got out of control, and one lady got hurt and needed to be taken to the hospital. The Doesville fire departments and police were called to the field to manage the uncontrolled situation.

The question is - didn’t the parents need to manage their improper behaviors? One may argue that everyone’s human and humans are apt to make mistakes. But it’s again true that youth sports violence lead to nothing but ruin the experience for everybody when parents do foolish things at those games.
